REviewS
ELIJAH by FELIX MENDELSSOHN
MARCH 29, 2019 WITH THE CALGARY PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA & CHORUS
Coming down to the stage from the choral ranks, Munar, a tenor, bravely sang the remainder of the role of Elijah, including both the ensemble and solo sections, sight-reading his way through the score live, on stage, and without rehearsal. It was a remarkable performance, with Munar handling the vocal demands with confidence, his voice projecting well despite having to sing noticeably lower than is his natural range.

VESPRO DELLA BEATA VIRGINE by
CLAUDIO MONTEVERDI
MAY 5, 2019 WITH EARLY MUSIC VOICES & ROSA BAROCCA
Perhaps the most compelling parts of the work came at the end of each half and the beginning of the second half. Oliver Munar had, perhaps, the most challenging solo music to sing in the wonderful Audi coelum that opens the second part of the Vespers. Wide-ranging in its vocal demands, it asks for a tenor of substantial ability, giving Munar an excellent opportunity to display his considerable vocal gifts.
